1) Sascha Schmitz (born January 5, 1972 in Soest, North Rhine-Westphalia), better known as Sasha, is a German singer and songwriter. From 2003 until 2005 he performed under his alter ego Dick Brave. Sasha was born and raised by his single mother in Soest, Germany. His musical career started when he became lead singer of a school band called Junkfood. The group recorded several demo tapes together, but attracted no label interest and the band soon split. At the same time the producers of the German rapper Der Wolf engaged him as background singer for the hit single "Gibt's Doch Gar Nicht", a success improved upon by his first official appearance, on "Wannabe Your Love", a top 10 collaboration with newcomer Young Deenay. Open Water (2006) Open Water (2006) In 1998 Sasha abandoned his studies of German and Sports due to his increasing interest in becoming a professional singer. He signed a contract with Warner Music and teamed up once again with Deenay to release another duet, "I'm Still Waitin'", the lead single off his debut album Dedicated to ... . Released in fall 1998, the album peaked at number 4 on the German album chart and was eventually certified Platinum. With "If You Believe", "We Can Leave the World" and "I Feel Lonely" the album spawned three further Top 10 hits. In 2000 and 2001 Sasha followed up with the albums ... You and Surfin' on a Backbeat. The longplayers exceeded the success of his debut, whereas the singles became bigger hits via airplay than through their sales. At the same time the singer was acknowledged with several awards, including a Bambi and an ECHO for "Best Newcomer". In 2003 Sasha started performing as lead singer of a rockabilly band called Dick Brave & The Backbeats. Originally conceived as a humorous lark, their success encouraged the group to record a whole album together, and "Dick This!" eventually became the singer's first number 1 record. It also featured a successful remake of 1961's "Take Good Care of My Baby", originally written by Carole King and Gerry Goffin and performed by Bobby Vee. In November 2004 the project was discontinued. However, alias Dick Brave's continual presence had earned Sasha an older audience for the first time. In March 2006 Sasha returned with his latest album Open Water, which was followed up by his Greatest Hits album in late 2006. 2) Sascha B. is known as DJ Sascha from the Gabba Nation Berlin. He and Cut-X invented the word "gabba" from the netherlands "gabber" ... but the meaning is quite more deeper and complex, then dancing after the sun is down. [more follow]
