Born in Ouidah, Benin (West Africa) Akinlola Yai spent his early childhood years migrating back and forth from Benin republic to Nigeria. Akinlola moved to America at 8 years old and at the height of the golden year of hip-hop That winter Akinlola immediately immersed himself in American popular culture, music and most specifically hip-hop like N.W.A's Straight Outta Compton and lyricists like Rakim. Akin Yai is best known as being a member of the hip-hop group CYNE. After a four year self imposed exile to Paris, France to focus on his forthcoming solo effort. Akinlola is ready to storm the citadel of music, he's currently wrapping up an EP collaboration project with Robert Lippok (To Rococo Rot) and Speck (CYNE) entitled Keith, Lippok, Jean-Michel "Blood on my Fendi" due out fall 2012. On July 21, 2012, Akin Yai released the mixtape of previously unreleased material titled, Nomadic. Akin Yai is following that with his full length debut solo album titled We are Leaders Not Saints, produced by Speck and Enoch, which is scheduled to be released during the 1st quarter of 2013.
